Somesh Selvachandran

Chief Technical Officer & Co-Founder

Somesh worked in the city before co-founding Innovate My Curriculum to pour his passion for software development into a project to help teachers.

As an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, Somesh earned his stripes running an agile development team building global, cutting-edge, equity derivative trading and pricing platforms.

He loves Pomodoro, Post-IT Notes and Miyazaki films.

Michael Forshaw

Michael is the Managing Director and Founder of Innovate My School.

With a degree in Information Systems, and a specialism in web design, Michael built an "all-singing all-dancing” VLE using open-source technology. This quickly became an invaluable tool by transforming the way lessons were delivered and resources were shared amongst staff.

After six years, one dog, and a relocation to Chester, Innovate My School has grown into one of the most popular destinations for discovering and sharing new ideas in education.

"Moodle Mike" came 13th in the world at Irish dancing at the age of 12.

Koda is an English Cocker Spaniel - born in Hungary and now a UK citizen.

Koda's namesake is a Disney Character. Was it fate or coincidence that led him to join Innovate My Curriculum and champion the subject of Computing? (A coder!)

His main responsibilities are greeting visitors and staff morale. When Koda isn't busy, he likes to let off steam by chasing squirrels in Bushy Park.

Our Story

Mark and Somesh founded the company in 2014, with a shared vision to help teachers and make a difference in teaching Computing.

Mark was the National CPD Coordinator for Computing At School. Somesh was a Software Engineer in the city and volunteered his time in the Computing community.

They met at various events around the country and realised together they could help teachers get to grips with the new Computing curriculum and make informed choices about educational resources.

Working with a team of teachers and educational specialists, they launched the first iteration of the platform in the summer of 2015. The word spread and a passionate group of teachers began to inform the design and direction of the site.

Educational suppliers were knocking on our door - Code Club, Raspberry Pi, BBC micro:bit, Rising Stars, Hodders to name a few. Mark volunteered as a guest lecturer for Initial Teacher Training Providers and authored a popular set of free, practical guidance.

In 2016, we joined the Innovate My School family. Mike and his team became true partners, with a shared vision, to bring Innovate My Curriculum to a wider audience.
